MikeOutWest (Webmaster, editor and reviewer)

Ever since I was a kid I've always loved the movies, the more fantastical the better. Having grown up in the sticks, going to work in London I was like the proverbial kid in the candystore - especially since my office was right next door to Forbidden Planet!

I have a great passion for Asian action cinema. I still feel Hong Kong and Korea deliver the best hard hitting action. I'm glad that part of Hollywood is growing up and delivering more adult-orientated, more cerebral thrillers. I'm excited by the current output from France and Spain (especially their horror movies), even Norway!

I'm unimpressed by the recent spate of hollywood remakes and wish someone would finally nail the coffin shut on J-Horror. I also get annoyed with over-simplified storytelling and finding myself to be smarter than the hero (unless of course it's been established he is in fact a doofus).

As the editor of the site, all spelling mistakes and other errors fall on my shoulders. On top of that I have to try and squeeze some reviews out of my contributors - suddenly I'm J J Jameson!

Wayfarer (Reviewer)

I have a love of movies that spans about 34 years. (I remember seeing Dr Who and the Daleks when I was 4 years old). Sadly, I was a geek when it wasn’t cool to be a geek, so have only recently felt like doing something with my knowledge apart from boring people down the pub or irritating them when my team wins the quiz night purely to my 100% score on name the song from which movie?

Typically, I haven’t a favourite film but if I had to choose I’d say the Sergio Leone inspired post-apocalyptic movie; The Road Warrior. It’s my most watched movie. Where’s the Special Edition DVD, Warners?!!!

I know more than I probably should about the following;

The Trancers movie saga The Phantasm movie saga The Mad Max Trilogy

Ok, I can lay claim to a lot more but I’ve only got so much webspace.

I’ve had an idea for a long running TV series, or series of books, films animated series, comic book series, but have done nothing about it, yet. In fact, the more time passes the more I see similar themed ideas on screen; Torchwood, Jumper as examples. Maybe one day, you might see my name attached to something; fingers crossed.

Sulaco (Reviewer)

That's Sulaco, with a "c" by the way. I chose this name after the United States Colonial Marine Corps Vessel in the Aliens movie (Cameron 1985) and NOT after the Coventry City player)

Born in England in the early 70’s Plenty of War Movies and Clint Eastwood stuff when I was a youngster, grew up on a diet of brilliant eighties movies. Do you remember those? When everything that came out was entertaining? All those great action films, Back to the Future, Ghostbusters and the Sci Fi? We were spoilt for choice: ET, Alien, Dune, back when Star Wars was good.

When I was a young teen, my cousin used to rent these really great straight to video horror films to keep me occupied while our parents were out. These were real turkeys, a lot of them are completely unobtainable now, but they had heart. Titles like the Stuff and Kindred. They shaped my feeling for Film and inspired me to learn more about it.

So I did, and now after studying Media and Film for the best part of eight years, reading about and watching the finest cinematic works in history and cultivating an appreciation, then teaching it for four, my greatest enjoyment of film is often from some low budget horror, or adrenaline fuelled actioner. Best enjoyed afer 12.00 pm with a Pizza.

Top Films The Outlaw Josey Wales Indiana Jones (1 and 3) Dune Star Wars (4 to 6) Salems Lot Lost Boys Alien(s) O.C and Stiggs Clerks Catch 22 Breakfast Club Ferris Bueller’s Day Off Stand By Me The Shining
